Today, acupuncture is a natural and increasingly popular form of health care that is being used by people from a wide range of cultural and social backgrounds. World Health Organisation has recognized acupuncture as effective for more than 40 conditions.

How does Acupuncture work ?

Acupuncture involves insertion of fine, sterile needles into specific acupuncture points along your body’s meridians (special channels in the body) to free flow the Qi (life energy) and correct your body’s overall balance. Different acupuncture points have different functions. and can be chosen for different conditions.

Chinese Herbal Medicine

Chinese herbal medicine involves the use of natural medicinal substances to regulate and normalise bodily functions. Most medicinal substances are plant based. Leaves, roots, stems, flowers, and seeds can all have medicinal properties. According to chinese medicine theory of Yin–yang, all opposing forces and matter in the universe can be defined as yin or yang. They interrelate with each other but are also two opposite aspects. Water is yin, fire is yang. Earth is yin, heaven is yang. Blood is yin, bodily functions are yang.

The occurrence of disease is due to the loss of relative balance between the yin and yang of the human body. This is due to an excess in one or deficiency in the other. Pathological changes of the yin and yang manifest as cold or hot syndromes. Each herb has a different taste and property to match. The herbs with pungent, sweet or bland taste have a warming function which can be used for cold syndromes.

The herbs with sour, bitter or salty taste have a cooling function which can be used to relieve heat syndromes. If someone suffers from a productive cough with yellow phlegm, this is a heat syndrome of the lungs. Bitter tasting Chinese medicine can be used to reduce lung heat.

Chinese herbs are a natural and safe way to help many kinds of conditions.

In traditional chinese medicine, herbs are often combined in formulas and can be given as teas, capsules, liquid extracts, granules, or powders.

Chinese herbs are a natural and safe way to help many kinds of conditions. For example; common cold, cough, asthma, headache, insomnia, anxiety, stress, fatigue, diabetes, gout, indigestion, constipation, diarrhea, IBS, period disorder, infertility, menopausal syndrome, allergies, impotence, skin conditions.

Electroacupuncture

Electroacupuncture is quite similar to traditional acupuncture. The same points are stimulated with the addition of an electrical current. A small electrical charge similar to the biological electricity of human body is applied to needles inserted into the points. It strengthens the effect of acupuncture. It is very effective for muscle injuries, pain conditions and paralytic conditions. Electroacupuncture is painless.

Meridian stimulation therapy

Meridian stimulation therapy is a relatively modern therapy. It uses a meridian activator to find the numeric code to activate and stimulate the corresponding positions of the disease areas to balance the body. It is simple, safe, and painless. This therapy is an alternative for patients who are needle phobic. It is excellent for pain conditions and can also help other conditions including some cervical spondylosis, lumbar vertebral disc prolapse, thyroid nodule, asthma, period pain, PCOS, fibroids etc. It provides faster relief for some conditions compared to traditional acupuncture.

Cupping

The air is extracted from sterile glass cups with fire and placed on the body’s surface which creates suction. It causes local congestion through negative pressure. Cups may be retained for 10-15 minutes until local congestion appears to remove the body’s wind, cold and blockages. It is particularly good for neck pain, back pain and leg pain. Cupping also helps the common cold, boosts the immune systems and eliminates toxins from the body. Cupping leaves a bruise in the affected area. It should be fade in about 7 days.

Gua Sha

Gua Sha is also known as scraping is an ancient healing technique used in traditional Chinese medicine for muscular pain, tension, fever and common colds. A blunt instrument is scraped in a certain direction across the affected area to make the blood come to the skin surface and promote the blood flow. Gua Sha leaves a bruise in the affected area. it should be fade in about 7 days.

Remedial Massage

Remedial massage is a type of massage used to relax muscular tension and eliminate tightness and pain. It is which is far more advanced than ordinary massage. A variety of different massage techniques are used to remove knots and stimulate healing. Remedial massage is used to help musculoskeletal disorders such as headache, neck pain, lower back pain, ankle sprain, etc.

Tui Na

Tui Na is a chinese medicine therapy by applying different manipulations such as rubbing, grasping, rolling, kneading, pressing to the diseased parts of the body to treat different conditions.

Tui Na is different from other styles of massage from three major points. Firstly, Tui Na is a therapeutic approach in chinese medicine rather than just a massage. Secondly, it has developed a lot of special manipulations to help different conditions. Thirdly, there are special pressure points similar to the points in acupuncture that are selected for different diseases.

Tui Na is effective for pain related disorders such as joint strain, muscle sprains as well as insomnia, headaches, migraines and stress.

Infantile Tui Na

Infantile Tui Na therapy is commonly regarded as the best form for babies. It is simple, safe, pain-free and has a wide range of indications. Infantile Tui Na is the preferred modality as it is a more selective and gentle approach compared to adult Tui Na. Infants respond well with this therapy because the manipulations produce a comfortable sensation.

It is a very common therapy for many pediatric conditions such as fever, diarrhea, digestive disorders, etc.
